You matter. You are loved. You are supported. Cornerstone is an ally.

Even with growing cultural acceptance and admiration of diverse sexual and romantic orientation and gender identification, the persistence of discrimination, harassment, marginalization, and oppression continue within society. Such unfair and negative treatment can evoke harmful effects on an individual's mental, emotional, and sometimes physical well-being.

Coping with discrimination and feelings of oppression, coming out to one’s family and friends, and getting to know one's “authentic” sense of self in the midst of social expectations and pressures can lead to higher levels of depression, anxiety, substance use, and other mental health concerns for LGBTQ people.

Even the expectation of discrimination may also lead to weakened mental health and chronic stress which could trigger additional negative effects on overall physical well-being.

At Cornerstone, we connect individuals in need of counseling services with licensed professionals and providers. The licensed counselors and providers are well-trained and educated to thoroughly work through the obstacles that are preventing peace of mind.
