Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be really independent and autonomous?

As an independent provider contracted with Cornerstone you have freedom and control over all clinical aspects.

Can I work whenever I want?

Yes. You will be in charge of scheduling your sessions with your clients.

Is there a minimum caseload?

No.

How much paperwork is involved?

Very minimal.

Is there training?

Cornerstone supports independent contractors with an ‘orientation’ program that is led by another contracted provider who is extremely familiar with the basics of being in Cornerstone’s network. This also consists of live and recorded zoom sessions with other providers, and covers the basics from receiving referrals to submitting billing.

What if I don’t feel safe going to a house or meeting with someone?

Cornerstone’s first two pillars are safety and wellness of any provider that is contracted with us. As an independent contractor – you are in charge of your services, if you do not feel comfortable with a client, you can discontinue services at any point.

Can I get regular clinical supervision?

Yes, a perk of being in Cornerstone’s network is being linked with another independently contracted provider that can provide clinical supervision.

Is there a referral bonus for helping Cornerstone find other providers?

Yes, you and your colleague will receive a referral bonus, once credentialing is completed, for every additional provider you bring to the team.

Can I still work another job?

Absolutely, you are independent and we encourage a healthy work/life balance. This scenario works out best for many of the providers in our network across the state.

Is this a full-time job with benefits, such as healthcare?

No, as of right now, Cornerstone independently contracts with mental health providers. However, your caseload can be as high as you can manage.

Is Cornerstone growing in my area?

Always.

Is mobile counseling the same as telehealth?

No. Mobile counseling is a specific and intentional reinvention of the delivery model for mental health services. Mobile counseling brings the services to the individual’s home or place of their choosing in the community and has the potential to be far more transformative, as providers bring the therapeutic relationship into the home. Observing families rather than hearing about issues and modeling approaches for parents directly in the moment can have a powerful effect. Telehealth is a tool in each provider’s quiver, although the expectation is usually for a mobile provider to come to the clients home.
